Be

Kids and Youth

On Sunday mornings during school terms everyone gathers together in worship and community. After about fifteen minutes the children go out to Kids’ and Preschool Church.  Kids’ and Preschool Church provides a space for kids to be engaged together around the Bible and learn what it means to follow Jesus and worship God. There is also crèche available.

We believe a child’s spiritual formation does not just happen at Kids’ Church. We love the work that has been done by Here2Stay and we are seeking to live out these values: we want to equip parents to be disciple-makers in their households through regular gatherings, and we want to build connections between the generations by regularly eating together. We also seek to celebrate rites of passage in their lives, and build positive peer community through school holiday parties. We want these kids to encounter Jesus for themselves, serve in mission, and respond with compassion.

At SBC, we take seriously our responsibility to provide protection and a safe environment for all people. Our Safe Church policy takes into consideration all vulerable people in our church, whether they be children, young people, elderly, those with disabilities or the emotionally and or spiritually vulerable. All our Kids and Youth ministry leaders are required to attend ‘Creating Safe Spaces’ training and complete a Working with Children Check. If you would like futher information on our Safe Church Policy and Procedures, please click on the safe church tab on our website.

Prayer

Prayer is important. We depend on God, it’s only God that come bring new life and transformation. We love that we can talk to the Creator of the Universe. Prayer is key in everything we do. A prayer team gathers together before the morning service for a time of intercession, and then we end our worship gathering by inviting people to come and be prayed for by our prayer team.

Relationships

HOME
GROUPS

Home Groups are key. We want to see as many people as possible connected into a home group. Home Groups care for one another, pray together and learn about God through studying the scriptures.

One Meal

We are a drop-off point for those wanting to contribute to One Meal. One Meal is a local community charity group providing free food relief for people in need – fresh fruit & veggie hampers, cooked meals and pantry staples. You can find out more here: https://www.onemeal.org.au/

CULTURE OF HOSPITALITY

We regularly spend time together- this often includes lots of food and fun! Twice a year we hold a special lunch for any newcomers who have recently joined our church.

CHURCH CAMP

This is a strong tradition in our church. We begin each year by going away together. This is a time to strengthen the connections between us, particularly the intergenerational connections and to focus on God.
