Since 2005 our Church has organized the Manly-Manado Walk, a 10km sponsored walk along the beautiful harbor shoreline from Spit Bridge to Manly on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. So far over 2,500 people have taken part in this Walk raising over $300,000 for the people of Manado in Indonesia.
The Walk raises funds to support 50 mothers and babies at the Compassion’s Child Survival Program for our church partners, Getsemani Baptist church, in Manado.
The Walk is a wonderful, fun-filled family event, providing a great opportunity for the Manly community to unite and take action against poverty. With interactive, educational (and often experiential!) stations along the Walk, it’s a great opportunity to learn more about the issues the global poor face and how we can best get involved and take action on their behalf.
This event is definitely a highlight on our church calendar. We just love coming together as a broader community not only to make a difference and help those in need in Manado but also to celebrate our local community and to help cultivate a stronger social conscience and fabric.
The following are photos from various Manly Manado Walks over the last few years.
