SBC Children’s Ministries

Sunday children’s programs

Our Sunday kids program aims to teach kids about Jesus through the foundational stories of the bible.

The programs run during term time, with children in the church hall right next to the main church space so that you can be reassured that your children will be able to find you, and you can find them, at any time. In holiday time children are provided with quiet activities to do at the back of the church.

Our services start with parents and children together in the church. After the worship time the children are accompanied by their teachers into the hall. For more information contact Huw and Nellie Evans.

Vegemites: age 2 – 4 years

Vegemites is an opportunity for young children to play games, do craft, and sing songs with each other to help nurture an appreciation of how loved they are by the God who made them. Vegemites runs during the Sunday service, which parents are encouraged to remain within, but this is flexible. Vegemites meet in a small room behind the church hall. For more information, contact Susan Hawkins here.

Irresistible Kid’s Ministry: age 4 – school year 8

This is a high energy, interactive and fun program that meets in the church hall during morning church time where there’s room for teaching, games and other fun activities. Irresistible Kids Ministry hopes to help our children understand that they are loved by God AND that they have gifts and abilities now that can be used in His service.

Irresistible Children’s Ministry has three groups: K-2, Years 3-6, and a youth bible study for Years 7-8.

Mainly Music

mainly music is a fun music group for parents or primary care givers to enjoy together with their young child/ren (aged 0-5). Throughout the morning, children develop gross and fine motor skills, language, imagination, mathematical and pre-reading skills as well as socialize with others. Each mainly music is associated with and is run by volunteers from a local church. Children are introduced to music, creativity and more, plus families given a chance to think about the God-part of life. Amazing to think that all this can be achieved in a loving, shared family environment.

The aim of mainly music is to provide an environment where preschool children develop skills to enhance their preschool education, through the use of music, rhythm, rhyme, and other music related activities with the participation of a parent or primary caregiver.

Seaforth Mainly Music at SBC runs on Monday morning from 9.30-11am. For more information contact Naomi here.

Special Religious Education (SRE)

SBC has several dedicated teachers providing Special Religious Education at our local primary school every week. We also put on Easter and Christmas services for the school.

SBC also supports ‘Anchor RE’, a cross-denominational Scripture Board, which has permanent teachers in three local high schools. For more information, contact Susy Lee here.

GoFish Friday

GoFish Friday is ‘pre-Youth’ and is an important part of our program as Year 5 & 6 kids from the local primary school gather at church during term time on Fridays from 3:30 to 5:30 for an afternoon of games, fun and some teaching from the bible. GoFish is led by Josh Lee and his team of leaders.
